WAVY News Staff – DARTMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A business owner that made headlines after a fire this past spring left his entire home on fire.

He told WAVY News 2 he didn’t see the fire coming until after it happened.
“I thought it was like a small blaze. I didn’t even see it go up, I just thought a small fire was going on,” said the owner, who told the network his daughter was in their laundry room in an office above the kitchen.
The school has been told about the home, but they are not putting the fire out. The owner said a neighbor said he did.
“This is how we lose them. They are just gone. We can’t replace them. They should be in heaven right now. Why can’t you take care of your family?”

It took firefighters four hours to put out the fire which was contained to the roof. It is not known if any families were hurt, but the business is up and running again. Gaskin is now home-schooling.
Police said there were no suspicious circumstances during the fire.
Officials say it could be a case of suspicious activity.
The fire was reported at 5:14 a.m. in the business next to Ben’s house. Fire crews and the Department of Public Safety closed the area during the incident.
