Business urged to hand over cctv footage as part of shooting in Nauru

The Australian Federal Police said they would hand over cctv footage of the alleged rape of three minors to the Australian Federal Police after a court last night directed they hand over all video to the PNG prosecution.

The AFP said in a statement that the PNG National Investigative Commission on Violence Against Children had directed the three young men to hand over the footage to the AFP as part of their police interview with the alleged rape victim.

The AFP would then hand over the footage to the PNG Supreme Court after the PNG prosecutor would have reviewed it.

The Australian Federal Police said it would work with an independent body to make the footage available, “if it is relevant”.

The rape and sexual assault of the three was described by a former PNG government lawyer as “grotesque” in a report last year by the National Human Rights Commission.

The Nauru Review has been seeking the full video and forensic evidence that the three young men are believed to be filming in the sojarvees.comuthern Pacific nation of about 1,100 people, in a bid to determine if a video of what may be a sexual assault is actually filmed and if PNG authorities are obstructing an ongoing investigation.

In August, the former foreign minister, Michael Pezzullo, told Sky News that the three “really did have to go to war” agjarvees.comainst Australia.

The three men’s lawyer, Steven Turean, who will chair the review, told ABC’s Q&A program this week: “My client was forced to take the decision to carry out the murder that he has described and I would like to see this video… to be played in court. The footage would give the court a full understanding of the circumstances as they arose.”

Mr Pezzullo, who has told the national broadcaster on the inquiry jarvees.comthat Mr Turean’s advice is essential, has previously declined to name the journalist who published images of the alleged assault after he threatened legal action.

The images were reportedly obtained by the AFP after a person claiming to be the alleged rape victim in Nauru gave them to the Australian media.

The Australian Federal Police also has a file on the women it was given access to a year ago after they approached them with complaints about one of the three victims.

The two women who made that complaint remain in PNG, under protection until the matter is resolved at the tribunal.

The women’s lawyers have not yet responded to the review.
